Sniff, San Francisco, CA, June 2007
A device was constructed that produces sage smoke underneath newspaper dispensers. Sage has been used for thousands of years to purify spaces of negative influences and energies. From far away the dispensers appear to have been set on fire, but in close proximity viewers have a much different experience. As with the other pieces in the Yoga Teacher Series, in this project I am examining one of the five senses. Sniff revolves around our sense of smell. This project was part of an exhibition and Boston, MA called The Stencil Show that re-imagined how stencil art could function in an evolving urban landscape. June 2007
